Mycenae Tours

Mycenae tour is short due to the fact that is close to Athens and can be a nice day tour. We will Drive along the road of Saronic Gulf to Mycenae located about 90 km south west from Athens . There we can see the remains of the ancient city, the Lion's Gate and the Tomb of King Agamemnon. At the way back we will visit Nauplio the first capital of Greece and after having launch there we will visit Epidaurus theatre. Finally we will make a short stop for photos at the Corinthian canal.

History

Mikines, the palace of Agamemnonas, is one of the most important archeological areas in Peloponnisos. The hill of mikines is 280 metres under the sea. The fortification wall has two gates: The main one at the north west corner known as the lion gate and a second on the north side. The main approach road ended at the lion gate,and the nortern gate served the traffic from the hinterland. The "Lion Gate" is a unique piece of monumentntal architecture.
